I don't know how its on other countries, here in Brazil some newer Notebook models don't come with DVD drives anymore, you have to dig a bit to find one. Never had problems with damaged media, even scratched backup discs would work fine, SDs and USB drives on other hand would easily be damaged and one time Windows 7 tried to "repair" one of my SDs that was full of games and saved files (i didn't had backup of this) and it just messed with everything, making me lose progress in almost 15 games. If you write and finally a disc, it can't be modified again, so CD/DVD is a pretty secure media to use on another PC, and USB drive can easily be iffected by malware and you get your data lost if you hand it to another person that has a iffected PC, i saw this many times. Despite what many people say, CDs/DVDs can last for many years if you take good care of them, i have burned some burned PS2 games that are a decade old and still working, and on cheap brand disc. I recently build a new PC and reused my DVD-RW reader/writer from my old PC and it works fine, all of my backups are on CDs and DVDs, and i have years worth of backup, even from my Windows XP days, some programs i can't even find on the internet now.Īlso, i find disc more reliable and easy to use and more secure. Sonic Mania would fit perfectly on a normal 700 MB CD-ROM, and yes, CD/DVD reader are not dead, not everything is Flash drives and emulated disc images. wait, people still use disc drives on their PC's? I thought this was a dead practice for the most part. If the timer runs out or if the player falls off the track, the stage will end but can be retried infinitely.Originally posted by yasha_mikage:I literally had to think about this for a moment.
